File folders are used as an organization tool. This helps students to categorize and better understand how the course is organized in the faculty viewpoint.  Folders mitigates confusion about overlapping assignments and tasks and clearly labels what is contained inside the folder.  The need to keep things simple and no more than 3 selections (clicks) to access important information is an absolute necessity. Current technology is becoming so sophisticated that it will seamlessly give learners and users their needed information on a single click by using artificial intelligence and navigation patterns.
